I'm new to the area and this is by far my favorite place. I bring all visitors here and they love it, too! Food: always amazing, though I admit since trying the BLT I haven't ordered anything else. The fries are perfect. Drinks are strong :) Price: super affordable food and drinks, great value, large portions for a good price. Staff: EVERYONE here is nice. So genuinely friendly and considerate. I've only ever had above and beyond service!
Food sucks, but service was superb. My server was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Mecca Fries: big thick cut flavorless pieces of potato. If you're going to serve fries that thick, you need to SEASON them. A little salt never hurt anyone. Meatloaf: has potential, but was cold in the center. It could've used a minute or two in the pan or microwave. The mashed potatoes were awful and lumpy, and again, NEEDED some salt and some butter. Jalapeño Poppers: the only thing I actually enjoyed eating here. If you must eat here, get these. All in all, I wouldn't come here again. The food was no bueno. The atmosphere sucked-- freezing cold; front door wide open; cigarette odor throughout the diner; old and uncomfortable seats (I felt like a spring was gonna go up my @&%!!!! Service was awesome though. Our server (chick with the cut off t-shirt w/ the Hawaiian islands on the back) rocked!
Good service here in the morning. However I came at night once, and the guy outside smoking a cig said, "ya got ID" and then we left because it looked super sketchy. I came back during the day. really enjoyed the breakfast at the Mecca cafe though, I got the chicken fried steak and extra wheat toast. There was barely any butter on the toast though :( the chicken fried steak was pretty damn good though. We had good customer service so that's all that mattered. There was an employee that had her whole ass bra out though. It wasn't even a cute bralette, it was just a normal bra out on display, poking from under her low cut t shirt. I don't mind cleavage but idk, as a woman i didn't enjoy seeing her bra, especially if it ain't even a xute one
Warning: This place is small, but has some pretty tasty food! I ended up ordering the build your own omelette. I put spinach, onion, jack and cheddar with avocado. I think the ratio of everything was a little off, a little too much cheese and spinach. Flavor wise though, it was pretty good! The portions are pretty big (I was not able to finish my entire plate) and priced pretty well. My order came with hash browns and they were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The coffee here was pretty good too. Though it was busy I thought our server was attentive. She had forgotten one or two things, but she apologized and got them as soon as we asked or she noticed. I would definitely recommend this place and I plan on coming back if I want to go to a breakfast spot with some pretty tasty food!
Nicely prepared and delicious! Great service and certainly will return. Good light rock background.
Great biscuits & gravy, hamburger & hand cut fries near Space Needle. With great music, lovingly styled diner with contemporary art for sale.
I've been going to Mecca for years, but I usually just go to the bar area. After my experience ordering food and seating at the restaurant yesterday, I'll stick to drinks if I go back. The only person who was polite was a guy cleaning tables. The server was so rude and kept ignoring my fiend and I, who had to wait 40 min to get part of our food. He forgot her beer, and we had to wait more than 20 min to even let him know because he would not pay attention to us. Yes, it was busy because there was a show, but the server was also busy arguing with a customer and was just plain rude. We ordered grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato. My friend's sandwich finally came, without tomatoes, and tasted like bacon. Mine did not taste like bacon, but the cheese was not melted. I also had to wait 10 more minutes because he dropped the onion rings that I ordered with my sandwich. Aside from the awful service and mediocre quality of the food, what frustrated me, too, was how he started hovering over us when we were paying our bill. The service was so bad that we had to get up and pay at the register to avoid waiting 20 more min for our bill. Then he started trying to be nice just to avoid getting the tip he actually deserved. I like Mecca, but I'm definitely not going back to Mecca for food if I see he's working there.
Awesome bar and diner in Queen Anne! My friends and I came here for some post-drinks after watching a movie nearby and the place was a lot of fun. It wasn't packed, which is always a plus, but still lively. The menu is diner food. My friend ordered cheesy fries with a side of gravy to dip and I had the buffalo chicken wings...with about ten drinks total! Hey, if the tequila-soda is only a little more than five bucks then it's easy to get another and another! There are two separate rooms here, the bar and cafe. We sat at the cafe at one of the booths, where our sever was incredibly friendly and personable. No matter how busy he was, the drinks (and food) kept coming at a speedy rate - which may have been bad for the liver, but made for a fun night! And the bar was blasting old school jams, like, LIMP BIZKIT! Remember them? Overall, this is a fun, chill place to visit on a Saturday night with classic food and friendly staff in Queen Anne.
Nah! Don't go here. It's not that good. Super cool dirty diner with bad food. First of all, what's with Seattle servers and not even saying 'hello' to start with - 'what can I get ya?' Lol. 'Ummm, well we're good, thank you! And you? Oh nevermind, I'll get a waffle!' My waffle was not good. The syrup had water added to it. They must've been running low I'm guessing. How do you screw up a waffle??? The server was cool and she was good (I guess) but not the friendliest. Maybe we'll just try Starbucks for breakfast tomorrow!
Nothing beats having breakfast on the bar side of the Mecca Cafe glued to the tv just watching Star Wars while sipping on a nice boozy bloody mary. It was dark, cool, and the perfect ambience to help cure my hangover from drinking a ton the night before. I really appreciated the attention we had on the food and drinks we got as we sat in a nice roomy black booth from the bartender. Thank you, Mecca, for cradling me ever some gently in your cool bar/cafe. You are what makes Seattle feel so much like home for me.
Dude, so good! Awesome at all hours, and Ryan in the late nights is super dope Loved the grilled cheese with turkey, and the mashed potatoes are super tasty
Cool local joint to duck in and have breakfast whenever you want. Open until 2am most days, 3am on Friday and Saturday. Definitely has the diner feel, including an array of locals with heads down just trying to wake up or have a moment alone with their thoughts. Super friendly staff and your standard diner food. There is a narrow bar area to the left of the entrance which was of course had every seat filled. Whether in the restaurant or the bar portion, you could probably kill a few hours reading a book or being as social as you want with those around you. My husband and I sat at the bar as we just wanted to grab a quick small bite and a drink. He ordered a standard deli turkey sandwich and lovingly gave me his side Caesar salad. I got a glass of red wine and always appreciate a generous pour nearly up to the rim. Good place to have in your back pocket if your in the neighborhood and have a hankering for this environment.
This place is awesome. Up in Queen ann and settle to visit Udub for our kid. Great service and great food. We ate breakfast here twice and I wanted to eat dinner too but the wife said no. Eggs hash browns biscuits and gravy all awesome. So good I had same thing twice. Wife had bacon and eggs.
Came here while visiting for an NFL game, was referred to by several, the Queen Anne District is neat, didn't realize I was walking into a small dinner, but the line wasn't crazy long when I got there, but it got long when I left, the food was excellent, flavor, spices, and quantity. I was also told that you have to have a Ranier beer w/ breakfast there, thinking they were joking, looked around to see many w the local Ranier beer. Good Spot!
Love the chicken fried steak! It is probably one of my favorite comfort foods. The service was great and the people there were really friendly! I love this nice little cozy place for breakfast. My one complaint was the has browns. The had this taste of old oil. I couldn't finish it as it was staring to get soggy as well. But, love the steak!
This place. This is not your Denny's or Ram's horn, nor is it a modern gastropub with pricey small bites of food and exhorbant prices to match. If you expect microgreens on all your food, turn your ass right around and do let the door hit you on the way out. Or go to Dick's and get a greaseball of regret instead. If you want a gigantic glass, no, mini pitcher, of iced tea and a wicked veggie cheese omelette with a side of grunge / metal music at 1am then this is the place to go. Props to a place that lets my sis & I color in the booths for a couple hours and the fantastic server / barman and awesome mr. dude (I think he was the manager / owner?) bestowing his bits of knowledge and wisdom to us weary travelers. Stickered lamps, retro framed ads, local art decorate a diner bar in the best combination ever. I'm not a Seattle native, but places like this I imagine hold the true heart of what the city is, was and always has been. Seriously, best fluffy veggie omelette ever, delicious raisin toast. End the night with a free lollipop (Organic even?? You guys rock.) +1000x For playing my favorite Deftones song "Around the Fur"
Kind of an off beat little place- but not in a bad way. The prices seemed really high to this out-of-town girl but I can't hold that against them if that's standard for the area, I suppose. My simple $$$$ food was undercooked and inedible but when I brought it to the attention of my server, she was wonderful about it, apologized and quickly replaced my meal. Much better! So-so food but friendly and gracious service. Quirky vibe.
The roots of Seattle go deep in this place. A dive bar and diner with great personalities and even better comfort food. Breakfast, brunch, lunch dinner or a late night snack are all good here. Parties of 4 are good here. If more look for multiple tables or a row of stools at the bar. Intimate seating, not great for large parties. The decor is hip and the attitude is straight up Seattle. Love this place for its comfort food. If you are looking for a fine dining or fine food options this is not the place. The service was great, even while busy they make sure you get your chances also. Seat yourself, so look for a cleaned table. Enjoy and don't rush.
Portions were huge and food was good..my waitress was so nice. Pancakes are enormous for only being two and the omelets are big as well. Great place to eat if you are in Seattle!
3 star at best... just ok food... eggs Benedict was just ok, so was fish and chips. The place is retro to look at, but not as comfortable to sit with kids. The prices are not cheap either, this should be a 2 $ place not a single $ one. An ok place to get food but not a place for foodies...
